Academic Options

For this unit, I researched four possible university options for the industry I was interested in. I used the UCAS site, as well as the universities own website to research their media-related undergraduate course so that I could better understand my options.  At the end of this, I will go over each option and, taking all aspects (costs, travel, career opportunities) into account, I will rate each university 1-4 to see which university and course would be best for my aspirations.

University Research Overview

Before I even started doing more in-depth research on my options, I wrote up a document to get a basic idea of the universities I could choose and the course I would apply for, as well as the cost and travel.

Leeds University

After completing the university overview, I began to do more in-depth research on each option, the first being Leeds University. Throughout this research, I used the UCAS website as well as the university website. I also researched accommodation around the university, including how much each place would cost and photos of the rooms.

Leeds Art University

The next university I researched was Leeds Art University. The accommodations are the same for this university as Leeds university, as the two are both in the same location and have the majority of the same accommodations. Regardless, I still included the accommodation slides.

Leeds Becket University

Whilst this university was not originally on my research overview, upon looking into it I have decided to research it and consider it as an option.

Newcastle University

I decided to have this university be a sort of 'backup' in case I did not get into any of the previously mentioned universities. 

Film School Leeds

I made the decision to not do much research on this university, instead only doing basic research on it, whilst it is good for the industry I would like to go into, it is more expensive than the other universities (requiring you to put aside certain amounts of money for out of college extracurricular projects.)

Rating

Upon researching these universities, I have been keeping note of the cost and the travel. I have also been keeping note of which course would be best for my career aspirations, as well as if I have the skills and entry requirements needed to pursue the course. I will now rate each university (including the one I only did basic research into) and it will be the order I apply to them in for UCAS.
