Constructing a CV for Employment
Since I started constructing my CV during school rather than college, I do not have all of my drafts, and I did research into existing CV's during school. Because of this, I did more research into CV's so that I could better understand the types and layouts of CV's. I looked up several different layouts of CV's:The layout of the CV is very simple and minimalistic. The sections are easy to find and easy to understand, as well as the contact details at the top of the document.
This CV is a little more complicated/in-depth. It shows the same as the previous one but also includes a more in-depth showcase of this person's skills with bars underneath them to show how skilled she is in each of them. This is also done with the languages to showcase how well this person knows each language. This CV also includes a simple grey bar along the side to keep information separated, and to draw attention to the skills and contact details.
This CV is a sort of mix between the previous two. It incorporates a different colored section at the top of the document to draw attention to the contact details. Though this CV does not have any skills bars like the previous one, it still showcases the candidate's skills, as well as their education.
Overall, these example CV's show good professional practice as they are short and concise, whilst also showing their skillsets, contact details and work history.
A good CV should have these things in, amongst others, as it helps to show your potential employers what skills and knowledge you could bring to the job. I aim to use these examples to influence my own CV in ways, but I also want to keep it unique to me and my skills.
I was unable to find the very first draft of my CV from school but I did manage to find some of the drafts:
First Draft
Second Draft
Final Draft
To construct this CV, I took into account different CV types and layouts. I also got help from the head of business development from SSFC, who is a close professional friend of mine. With my research and his help, I managed to create this CV to the best of my ability, and I believe it is complete and professional.
The feedback I gained from the head of business development helped me greatly in this process, he did give me quite a lot of verbal feedback also, along the lines of how to make it look more professional and put together, rather than having it just be lists and lists of words. He also helped me with what skills to include in my CV, such as skills relevant to any job rather than having a list of basic skills that could really mean anything at all.
